Table scaping brief

Drawn from the Boathouse table scaping brochure. Guiding principle: simple and warm — the surface stays open so platters pass and sightlines stay clear.

ItemPriceDecision
Beige tableclothsWarm neutral tone, on-brand. Full-length to the floor on the one long table.£65 (all tables)SELECT
White linen napkinsFlat-folded, neutral against the beige cloth. 32 covers.£55SELECT

Venue table scaping total (selected): £120 — beige cloths and white napkins; centre kept clear.

Menu cards (venue to print)

  • 32 menu cards + a few spares — printed by the venue (chargeable).
  • Card size: A6 (105 × 148mm), 300gsm uncoated, warm ivory/cream to match the beige cloth.
  • Single-sided — the five-course menu (see Section 04). Event title and date at top, small brand mark at foot.
  • Serif type, dark ink with a thin gold rule. No imagery. No scalloped edges.
  • Place one card centred above each placemat, slightly tucked under the napkin fold.

Welcome sign (redo)

  • Replace the existing welcome sign. Freestanding or easel-mounted at the entrance.
  • A2, ivory/cream board, serif type, small brand mark, one low motif.
  • Wording: “Kumba Table — Dance | Kutamba | Ukugida. 16 August 2026. Please take your seat.”
  • Warm and editorial — not a bright printed poster. Add a direction arrow if the entrance is not obvious.

Setup timeline

  • 5:30 PM — Venue access. Beige cloth down, linens, napkins set.
  • 6:00 PM — Table fully set — centre left clear for sharing platters.
  • 6:15 PM — Venue-printed menu cards laid per the seating sketch.
  • 6:30 PM — Welcome sign in place. Final table pass.
  • 7:00 PM — Doors. Guests seated.

Menu

The five-course tasting menu printed on each menu card. Serif type, centred, dark ink on ivory.

05

Wine pairing & corkage

We will be offering a curated South African wine pairing across two courses, with approximately 12 bottles for 32 guests.

Question to the venue

Could we agree a corkage fee per bottle rather than per guest?

As the wine will be served as controlled 125ml pairing pours, rather than BYOB or free-flowing wine, would the venue be open to either:

  • An agreed corkage rate per bottle, or
  • A fixed corkage fee for the event based on approximately 12 bottles.

Proposed wine pairing

  • Avondale Camissa—Reimagined Boerie
  • Alheit Hereafter Chenin Blanc—The Gathering
